I've been discussing the musket sounds with JMM and pointed out a couple of problems.  He's interested in fixing them, so at some point we'll have new musket sounds in the game from JMM.

The two files musket1.wav and musket2.wav appear to be volley fire from close and distant.  Musket3.wav is a single musket shot.  Information for potential modders.  The hardest thing to get sounding right is a volley close up.  Find a replay that shows a unit doing volley fire and use that to test.

Musket3.wav was recorded by JMM from a Charleville 1777 musket owned by a French friend of his who is a reenactor.  I don't know about the other two musket sounds.

What are people using to edit sound files?  I'd like to play with it a bit  myself.

For simple wave editing I'd recommend audacity, it's free and fairly powerful.

Thanks spec10.  Fusilier suggested WavePad and I've been using that a bit.  A second one wouldn't hurt, so thanks!
