!!! - UPDATE 11.03.2010: Version 2.1 is released! (Default) Red, Blue and (new) GREEN, now with fancy installer / uninstaller and 3 shortcuts on the desktop to start the game in red, blue or green :) - !!!
Click here to download v2.1 (http://www.guggs.de/hwlg/file.php?id=16)
UPDATE 08.03.2010:
Download NOW AVAILABLE at the HistWar:Les Grognards unofficial File Depot (http://hwlg.guggs.de) in the "Graphic Mods" Category :)
After I finished the Gettysburg map (http://www.histwar.org/forum/index.php/topic,4420.0.html), I spent the rest of the night revamping the GUI. It startet out with turning all the red parts into blue. But it went a bit further, see for yourself.
I'm not completely finished yet, so there's no download link for now, but you can expect one within the next 24-48 hours, maybe even earlier :)
Feedback is welcome, please tell me what you like / don't like :)

It's behind belief... 8)
I have to finish some major adjustments in the game... but after that, we could look at the different possible mods ;)
First of all, I have to write a document for giving the structure of datas.

Spec10 I think they look great. A great harmony of colours and tones.
I want to ask where I learn to modify the colours like that. Any 'modding 101' guides anywhere you know?
Another idea is that colour schemes for each major army are possible. I like Russians and would mind such a scheme but around greens and reds rather than the blues you have above. I wonder if Austrians would like tints of white & warmish greys?
-
I like it!!! Wonderful ;)

Great job. :D

I found most of what I was looking for, but can you tell me where to find the unit pictures seen in the attachment?

Basically it all comes down to learning how to use software like Photoshop or the free alternative GIMP. The three most important skills in modifying game content are:
- Find the files that contain the things you want to modify, in this case Those are the files included in the download of my mod
- Find out how to open and save them, in this case you'll need a plugin that will let you open and save .dds files, like this one for Photoshop (http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html)
- How to use Photoshop, GIMP, etc. to manipulate graphic files, like changing color, changing backgrounds, changing ... everything :D That's the one skill that may need the most training. You can find thousands of good tutorials on the internet on how to achieve a certain goal in Photoshop and the like.
I know, this is not very detailed but I hope it helps you a bit :)

I think blue is easier on the eye, I'm going to try it and thank you Spec for creating the wonderful Download site.
-
Wow it's great, the color is more soft and looks better.

These unit pictures are built in real time..so they don't exist like a texture.
After sending the Edition Napoleon and Grognard, I am going to write a manual for the Mods.
I think it's a big piece... and will need several weeks to finish it (I'll not work at 100% on this Mods' Guide)
So, the best is to build a list of priorities... Could you begin it. THX

I love it but how can I make the Allies keep their green color?

I'm not sure which green color. Could you post a screenshot of the green color you mean?
-
The green color in the default program. The original Allies color.
-
thanks - I think its great

The green color in the default program. The original Allies color.
Sorry, I still don't know where to look :)
The only green I have in the game are the uniforms, but those are not being touched by the mod.
Here are 4 screenshots I made, me commanding the Allied Army at Austerlitz. The first two shots being from the clean game, no mod, the second two are with the mod.
-
Spec10, ignore me I'm an idiot, it's all the years of boozing.

Wow!
Wonderful.
Great job spec10, thanks.

I like that idea, and I think that will be my next project. I will create more color schemes and write a small application (i guess just a simple batch file will do :D) that let's you chose the scheme before you start the game.
//edit: I'm working on it right now, and let me say this: It's gonna come with an automatic installation and some nice Icons on your desktop to start the game with the interface color you want :)
-
Looks good spec10, much needed IMHO,
Looking forward to the app
Great minds think alike :D because I started on a UI mod too...
Tried to get fancy and recreate all the stitching, re-do icons, etc...
I'll post a screenshot here just so I can feel my work didn't go to waste

If you want to, you can finish it and we could include it as the new red version in the GUI Revamp I created, I haven't redone that one yet :). Let me know what you think.

Thanks spec10,
Don't wait on me though, go ahead and release your stuff when ready, I work slow, always changing stuff and trying different ideas.
I'm thinking of making a gray CSA one now...
-
Hehe CSA colors might go well with my Gettysburg map ;)
Anyways, keep me updated on your progress and, when something's finished, on whether you want me to include it in my installer. It would be really cool to have all the gui revamps in one package, so people can chose between them easily on the fly. :)
-
Amazing job, spec10, with the installer and the desktop icons. A must-have !! :D
-
And it launches the game too!!!!!! Oh My!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outstanding!! Let´em come.

I've just discovered your repository. Thank you so much. I am going to love the Russian green interface! Bravo!
-
I'm glad everyone likes it so far. If you see something you don't like, let me know. I'm eager to polish this as good as I can :)
