We are looking for people who would be interested in Campaign Battles in a future Campaign
The first Campaign will be Danube Campaign 1805
Strategic OOB have been made up, just need some players to commit to it now.
We envisage that only 3 CNC will be needed to represent the Major Powers: France, Russia and Austria. We have 2 player for this Role we just need an Austrian CNC
As the game progresses there will be strategic AAR reports each game month of the advancing Armies progress and the Manouvering of the same.
Other roles will be required are Players for Corps and or Army Command. These players who are commited to sign up and can hook up by Internet will be preferred.

Im glad you ask me! :)
Very simple really the data is adding up: Infantry and Cavalry Strength points from EiA thats recorded from the EiA Third Party Battle report that can be printed up as a hard copy.
So the collective points from that particular battle are added together plus the number of troop modifiers, to give you the CEH that is required. Every EiA point is about 2,000 men. Every HWLG CEH point is 1000 men.
i.e. Infantry + Cavalry x2 = CEH
Each individual Corps CEH is added up to give you the grand total of CEH to make your HWLG OOB editor.
HWLG OOB has a inbuilt quota system, that covers the years, but in my view for a fictional system as this is that may need to be more flexible, but from our experience at TGHQ it works well.
The only convention is that Guard or Militia corps will have to comprise exactly what is represented in the EiA Third Party Battle Report. This can be easily checked by the opposite players because both CNC's get the copy of the EiA Third Party Battle Report.
The good thing about this that you only need to make a HWLG OOB for that particular battle.
But the idea is to, at the begining of the Campaign make up a full OOB in Histwar for your Army, and then adjust it accordingly at every battle and according to your current casualty level.
When the end of the battle report is given in HWLG all you have to do is look at the New Potential figure and backwards calculate on your spreadsheet, using the same calculas rating. Thats is CEH/(divided)by the Number of men. It may sound harder than what it looks. I have a spreadsheet that has just been finished, and it really make this very simple process. Im happy to distribute this to who ever is interested.
Maps can be obtained from a good source http://www.davidrumsey.com/luna/servlet/view/group/784 (http://www.davidrumsey.com/luna/servlet/view/group/784)
is what we at TGHQ use, there is a good Map of Central Europe there we use.
The battles maps are made up using the EiA Map area as your Campaign area, and you make a scale representation for a HWLG Campaign map where your Army can manouver over the 4 days. The results are the same as a smaller battle but a lot more fun.
It may take a little longer to play. But you can restart where you left off anyway and finish the Campaign Battle at the next sitting, no big deal we have done this at TGHQ on a number of occasions. Mostly can be done in the one sitting.
We would love to have a few more map makers in our group. We are starting a data base of maps, than can be reused, but it also gives a player the advantage of picking what maps he may chose to fight over in a future battle in a Campaign.

Hi gazfun,
Thanks for these explanations.
If I well understand, could you confirm there is no computer data process to transfer directly original OoBs' files or folders from EiA into HistWar ?
Regards,
Théo

Very interesting and very nice video, Gazfun.
If I had the free time I would be interested.
Also, am I right in understanding that EiA doesn't have Fog of War?
Just to let you know, Matrix have a sale on with 30% off Empire in Arms.

Good luck.

"Yes Empire in Arms does have fog of war, its an option"- Gazfun
Thanks, that's good to know.
What does it consist of ?
Can it be used in multiplayer games?
Are you using FoW or do you plan to?
For those who find it difficult to commit to MP games is there opportunity in your campaign to play out battles using PBEM?
Appols for all the questions ;)

Yes we plan to use Fog of war in the Campaign so you dont know what the Corps Strengths are going to be until the OOB are being made up. We have a preferance for TCP/IP because its faster, but those who can show that they can finish a battle by PBEM in a week is preferable
