Unfortunately, replica telescopes use to be too strereotyped... There seems to be no such thing as the reproduction of spyglasses currently in museums that were used by Napoleon or other generals of the time.

This type of instrument was not for making serious observations; rather, it was more a gentleman's fashion accessory.

If you look at the size, it's tiny.  Would be an interesting curiosity to own.

I think the telescopes used on the battlefield would be more the stereotype ones.

My wife has a specialty scope for the visually impaired that's even smaller, fairly powerful, has a good image and focuses down to a foot or two away from the scope, but it's modern.  If you never looked through it, you might think it was a fashion accessory, too.

If you try www.nmmshop.com       and search" telescopes"
2 naval replica telescopes are illustrated.
I would have thought that these would also represent military telescopes of the time in basic design,
as much the same view was required be it from a rolling ship or a moving horse.

Another question is about the magnification achieved in those times. These replicas usually provide as much as 30x magnification, which I doubt was achievable with optics of the beginning of the 19th century.
