Battle over, Strategic victory for the French, no Tactical winner.  I think I miss-timed my flank attacks, I could have done better.

Question, What would you have done differently if you had been the French?

Alfiere, I have this anal thing about deleting save files on my computer when I'm done, so it's gone. However I found it so much fun I'm going to do it again and I WILL post the save file. Why don't you do one too? It's Marker info Vague, Ammunition Limited, View Full

Gentlemen,

This is awesome!
I wanted to do a battle myself - but unexpected events prevented me from doing so. Will start when I have time again.

Great start though, thanks AJ.

Duke of Wellington: To beat the French.

Started and it's now past 1400 hrs.
Very limited view of the enemy during initial deployments but I decided that turning his flanks up those hills was hard work and increased fatigue considerably. So my plan this time was to keep his flanks pinned and drain him whilst sitting on defence.  When the time is right I am going to make a big push on the center through the valley with Ney's Corp, the fresh Infantry Corp and the Cavalry reserve Corp. The Allies left is strong but that's weakened his center but I most hold him on the south flank without using my reserves for the push on the center.

I have played with start slow and difficult recovery without victory.
After 3.5 hours of battle my ceh loss 10% vs 6% allied and at one point there was even tactical victory for Alexander.

Alfiere, in my opinion the battlefield favors the Allies. At deployment they have quicker access to the higher ground in the north and they have the Marsh just south of their center. The Valley in the center, isn't a flat plain but is hilly and presents a tiring route for the French to attack through the center. Indeed Ney's Corps struggled with fatigue during his push though the valley and halted/retreated twice to reform, during his attack.

Anyhow my battle ended in a good victory for the French. At the first Red Screen, Napoleon had won a marginal Tactical and Strategic Victory, I clicked continue and pressed on for a good win. This time I got my timing right

Although my plan from the beginning had been a center attack, I had to remain flexible in case his center was too strong. So if you look at my earlier deployment screen, you can see I had ample Reserves to divert to a flank attack if I had to change my original plan.

You have taken a LOP with a corp. Very good.
I little use diversion, but for the game is a false attack or true attack?
You are too strong for me. :(

Gentlemen,

My turn :)
I have set up a Grande Batterie under Mortier; about 90 guns in total, deployed initially over a long line in my center (on top of the little hill North of the village.

After 4 hours of hammering away at the Enemy Center, starting with counterbattery and continuing with pounding the infantry, the Center started to wither a bit. A little gap appears.

In the South, Davout's little corps kept the Enemy Left in check, with some minor actions.
