Excessive smoke - at times.
« le: 17 mars 2010, 14:57:07 pm »
Does everyone else see this ?, huge amounts of smoke, but then totaly cleared when moving the camera slightly forward, the smoke appears from a certain distance and then it's gone as you close in.  This is happening in PBEM games.

I'm not talking about the smoke from the cannons as they fire, that's fine, it's the "general" smoke on the battlefield.

Picture one : smoke
Picture two : no smoke a second or two later after moving the camers forwards a small amout.

Is this how it should be ?.

I have seen this on several occasions, but actually thought it quite good. It's probly there to add an extra dimmension to FOW in full Grognard mode when you can't fly over the entire battlefield.

That could be the answer.

From most of my reading, I have deduced that these battlefields were extremely smokey places. Hundreds of cannons firing repeatedly and thousands of Muskets, at Waterloo the Allies even had rockets.  All this was black powder too.  If any of you have fired black powder as I have, you'll know just how filthy it is.

I'd bet that smoke is to increase the FOW for players with the camera locked on the commander.
