I've been waiting for this game for a long time !

I'm so glad to see it being finished.

You'll enjoy it.  A word to the wise, it is easy to get frustrated and feel the game doesn't behave as it should, I did.  It does have some minor bugs and a patch is nearly ready. Search and use the forum for topics before posting so called bug reports, by this stage nearly every quirk has been posted at some time.

Here's my advice.  Thoroughly, play and replay the tutorials, experiment without trying to obtain victories.  Try and start off with small battles (Look in the Scenario forum for some homemade downloads of the smaller stuff).  You've kinda got to get a feel for the A1, it's like learning to drive a stick shift "hard at first, needs a lot of practice but worth it in the end".  Unlike the commercial combat stuff, HLG behaves pretty true to Napoleonic tactics, so when a unit won't do what you want, you're probably asking them to do something unrealistic. Watched the new NTW video yesterday, Infantry square instantly collapses under cavalry  attack and British Infantry in 3 ranks fires muskets of all ranks simultaneously, NONE of that rubbish in HLG.

Good luck and happy fighting, it's the best game ever and will get better.

Hook!

Larry, how are you?

I was a big fan of WNLB and ANGV. I remember you well from the message boards related to those games.
I still enjoy solo play with these games!

My computer is kind of old. I cannot find the Technical Specs for HWLG. Could you tell me where to find them?

Thanks.

The specs are buried somewhere deep in the purchase screens. :)

Citer
CONFIGURATION

Windows XP 32 // Windows Vista // Windows 7
Processor Pentium IV 3Go // Athlon 2Go
512 Mo RAM on XP // 1Go on Vista
Compatible DirectX 9.0c (shader 2.0)
Sound card compatible DirectX 9
Hard Drive : 1Go

The WNLB/ANGV days were a lot of fun!  What name did you go by then?  There are quite a few of the guys around, but not many are posting much.

Hook!

I went by Jean Lafitte because I am from New Orleans.

I have a 3.4 G speed Pent 4 CPU with lots of RAM, but my 3D card is old:  GeForce 7900 GT/GTO

How do you think the Demo and Full version will run?

Thanks.

Love the Nvidia.  I upgrade to a geforce 8400 Gs 512mg by PNY, it works great for HLG, got it at Staples for $75

I remember Jean Lafitte!  Welcome aboard.

I don't know the specs on these cards, but it's possible the 7900 will outperform a lot of newer cards.  You may be missing some useful shading or such, but I'm guessing it will work.  The requirements are generally low for the game.  As long as it has this: "Compatible DirectX 9.0c (shader 2.0)" you should be ok.  You should be able to find out by running dxdiag  Start->Run and enter dxdiag.  Somewhere in all that data it will give you the capabilities of the graphics card.

And if not, a newer card won't be that expensive, as ajlewisbrookes points out.

I have ordered the Napoleon Box/Collector set after I successfully got the Demo to launch.

I'll need to read the tutorials to move so much as a single Soldat.

Folks:

I'm going to try to delete the Champagne account so that I can again use my original account: Jean Lafitte

So, how does it work on that graphics card?

I worked through the first tutorial with no problem.

My card has only 256 MB of memory, BUT, it is a PNY and is probably the most advanced and last version of that kind of card.

I did upgrade to this card about a year ago, and, if I recall correctly, my motherboard is such that I could not find a 512 MB card to fit, so I stuck with 256 MB.

I will keep you posted, Hook.  I appreciate your help.  You are most important to this niche of the hobby.
