That's a sign that your key file isn't properly installed.

Can you expand on that, I have already spent hours on getting this far. What next?

Since you said earlier that you had found the file attached to your e-mail, I suppose that you may have saved the file in the wrong location. I needs to be saved into the main folder where the .exe files are. Furthermore it's important that the file has the extension .hw, but since you haven't changed the file or created it by yourself, that shouldn't be your problem.
Remote diagnosis is difficult.

Ah, I suppose that's the problem. Can you try the same with the editor?
You find the editor/ notepad under "Start"->"Run.."->type in notepad and hit enter
Make sure you have the right file extension. You did well with word if. as you say, it's displayed in explorer as ".hw"-file

@ Goodwood
Someone (Hook ?) said recently that .hw files should NOT be created with Word, as this somehow adds some info to the file that makes it look wrong to the program. What you are seeing (headless soldiers, etc) is what someone trying to use a fake key would see...

I understand the inconvenience you are xperiencing with this method of activation. I made some sggestions to change this in this thread:

if you want to check it out.

Thanks Franciscus, I have got it working, I have read lots of posts. I guess the important ones I failed to comprehend :p Also I have only had Win 7 for a week, still learning to navigate around that O/S after many years of XP
