FYI, and with permission of the ex-MadRussian you can find a old experimental Unit Mod here.

What it mainly does is change some Mesh numbers and reduces the amount of texture files required. It also includes some updated textures and will give you a 1812 Uniform theme.
:!: It was not tested in Multi-player mode. :!: So if you play Multi-player use at your own risk and if you do use and find no problems great.
Mod is made to work with JSGME Generic Mod Enabler. So if you want to use this Mod you should disable MadRussianUnits2.0 (if you have) and unzip downloaded file to your MODS folder look for HistWar3DUnits and activate. Also this Mod is not compatible with Peninsula Mod
If you have any problems with Mod just deactivate, also only a limited number of downloads will be available.

Ok, no more downloads possible, limit reached. So for those who were able to download and have any problems just give a shout. The Mod you got was actually the latest MadRussian3.0 Mod which included Waterloo Units plus over 350 other updated images.

There are a couple of reasons why this Mod was not uploaded to depot.
First there is a file upload limit of 25 megs on Depot, this file exceeds that, and second this Mod was not going to be released till after the 1-4-1 (HistWar2.0) Upgrade. Now since there is a short delay on this upgrade, MadRussian Mod was put up for a test run.
As to why there is limit on downloads the answer is the hosting web-site has a limit on bandwidth. So the MOD will eventually be put up officially somewhere but not till after (HistWar2.0).
The MadRussian Unit Mod 3.0 is really just 2.0 plus Waterloo Unit skins. It also includes some updated skins, for example all the Austrian skins and some others were redone. At some point all will be updated.
Another thing this Mod does is change some of the Mesh number assignments of the Units. This was necessary! and if you play solo you should have no problems but it was not tested in Multi-play mode. So while we are waiting 4 1-4-1 some people can maybe see if this Mod works.

I found texture files for sappers in new mod:
5 files
1 - line infantry sappers with fur caps
2 - light infantry sappers with fur caps
3 - guard sappers with fur caps
4- line infantry sappers with grenadier's shako
5 - light infantry sappers with grenadier's shako
But in game i don't see any sappers in regiments!!!
I think some error in FichIndexUnite file!!!
P.S. Vistula legion sapper now at number 8433.

In your version all fine, i talk about MadRussian last Mod, he change FichIndexUnite file and i think make some errors with sappers.

No sappers after 1812?

From what I understand this was not a mistake but a Mod designed decision. In the stock mesh files only the French Units had graphics made for the sapper Mesh but all Infantry Regts can have one, you just need to make the graphic and assign. MadRussian has no special Mod powers and is not part of JMM’s Mod team. So if he can change those mesh assignments so can anybody.
The Mod actually made many positive changes it corrected any incorrect matching of mesh helmet to graphic problems, it also added many graphics for example the following French Units all got there own graphic young guard (tirailleurs, voltigeurs), mounted guard artillery, Guard Dragoons, many cavalry units received there own trumpeter graphic were as before they did not have one, and not to mention all the new skins for the Waterloo Units. So a lot of work was done here, more than people understand unless they actually have made one themselves.
So as stated in a early message this was a experimental Mod, and it has actually been passed around to some different groups in the last 3 months to get a feel about what they thought, and I guess most of you out there fall under the old dog type. So this Mod ver3.0 has been Canceled. Also after some consideration ( time / reward ) MadRussian will now stand down and let others step up to the challenge.
I will see about getting ver2.0 put back up for download untill something else comes out.

A great shame. MadRussian's work was outstanding, and significantly added to the visual appearance of the game. I find it hard to believe that people were negative about it.

Not to egg this on but I just want to say one last word and nothing more needs to be said or will be said at least by me.
Nobody said anything negative, and I believe the majority of people who screened basically said nothing and only 1 or 2 people bothered to say something positive. Now that in itself means nothing but I guess when you factor in the amount of personnel time spent. Well why bother.
And the only last thing I will note is this, (and this comes from me not MadRussian) it is generally polite to ask someone before using their mod work to make your own Mod. This was done several times with the Waterloo Mod being the most clear example. Again you could say that means nothing, who knows.
So MadRussian is no more the official bulletin will read that he was kill in action reconnoitering behind French lines or maybe he just fell off his horse.
We will just look at this as a fresh start.

Concerning the waterloo mod, as the french are not in and the other nations are all new ones, how can you say that we spoil madrussian mod? We use it as a base as the original one to make our own. And he never complained about something, if not i would put his name with the mod also.
For me as a modder, when i put it for download for everyone, it means that is not any more my property and that everyone can use it as he wants. It s nice to share with others ...
I hope that is your own opinion because It is sad to have such state of mind. We are a small comunity and the improvemnt that moders do it is to have the best napoleonic game.

Many people including myself have said that MadRussian has done a excellent job with his mod but you couldn't have everytime compliments for each update.
The best compliment for a modder is the popularity of his mod and everybody use MadRussian mod for Histwar

MadRussian 3d unit mod 3.0 very nice and i use it now, especially for Bordino and Waterloo battles, because in new Mod we can see French uniform on 1812 year, for me main problem is absence of sappers in new mod, only middle guard have sappers in new mod. Maybe somebody know how to add sappers from MadRussian 3d unit mod 2.0 in new Mod? I try but i dont know how i can do it?

In new Mod i found sappers only in middle guard units, but without beard and sapper's chevron, i add chevron and beard, what do you think?

i don't have the 3rd version of Madrussian with the english. I know that he changes the nummer of the dds with uniforms.
i just ask my self as the nummer of the dds are linked with the sounds, are the scotish play the bagpipe marches ?

I replay Waterloo scenario with new MadRussian unit Mod 3.0, MadRussian terrain Mod 3.0 , Nix Waterloo buildings, my summer trees and explosive animations. Looks very nice, i have new emotions!!!
