Posté par: JMM le 16 septembre 2003, 16:01:13 pm
Hello,

Les Grognards will be released with some battles (around 10).

Do you have some ideas? I am waiting for your wishlist...

JMM

EDIT : I forgot to say : just french vs austrian and/or russian.

Friedland, you say? How interesting!
Does it means that there will be French line infantry with shako in the game as well as bicorne, considering that shako was introduced  in 1806 and in full use in 1807?
Futhermore there was a small amount of Prussians at Friedland. Will Prussians be in the game after all?

As for the wish list, apart from the two battles you already mentioned my top eight list  would be, in order of priority:

Borodino
Marengo
Wagram
Arcole
Rivoli (1997)
Elyau
Eggmuhl
Bautzen

Les Grognards is a tactical wargame...

1806 will be the first piece of the serie... Operaionnal level! (is it clear?)
The other packages 18xy will add the other nations.. and HistWar will become a Strategical Wargame...

Today, I don't think to add the other armies into Les Grognards!

About the wishlist..
Les Grognards allows to replay the 1805-1815 epoch.. and not before this date... but it will be possible to use the 2 editors to create your battles.... (why not before 1805.. but maybe some problem with the uniforms...)

Link, I don't forget I have to answer about the different french units... There will be the bicornes, the shakos, the Bearskin headgears, Colpack, Cuirassier, Carabinier, Dragoon helmet...

Bonjour JMM,
Thanks for the info about the units. I hope your answer doesn't mean that you will not upload the unit screenshots. :puppy:

About the carabiniers. They drastically changed uniform in 1810 to wear a bronze cuirass. Will it be two setup of carbiniers depending on the year of the battle?

No problem Link...
I gave these informations to avoid the delay... but there will be the ScreenShots as soon as possible.

Many helmets are ready.. dragoons, cuirassiers, bicorne, shako, bearskin, colpack...

By this way,  there will be a lot of uniforms.. it will be possible to get the Guard Grenadiers of the third regiment (White + Red).. but it was the second one on 1810!

I am writing the code of OoB Editor.. To create a OoB
1) you have to create the map
2) then you can do the OoB.. One of the parameters is the date.. so when you will add an unit.. this one will be matched with a 'good year' uniform... (date from 1805 to 1815.. so I have to see Marengo, Rivoli and other battles before 1805..)

In more, it will be possible to modify some part of this uniform (like I wrote)

I hope it's clear 8)

Bonjour JMM,

I apologize.. I thought that preferences from other grognards would be of more importance than mine... I shall rectify this oversight at once:

1. Jena-Auerstadt
2. Friedland
3. Eylau (chargez Murat!)
4. Aspern-Essling (huge!)
5. Wagram (more huge!)
6. Borodino (can't forget about Kutosov!)
7. Some Spanish Battles (Salamanca, Talavera, Coruna, etc.)
8. Marengo (I like chicken too!)
9. Rivoli-Arcola
10. Battle of the Pyramids

just for a start.. and maybe some campaigns based around these battles..  that would be great..

The Pontonniers eagerly await the OOB Editor... we can always 'plug-in' some names in a pinch.. hahahahahahaha

Ooh, I just noticed I've been promoted to corporal. I guess we have a new corporal on this forum.  :amuse:

I agree Duc. Perhaps they can be invited after "Histwar 1806" is released. Granted that the units in LGDN and "Histwar 1806" are compatible off course. What do you say about that JMM?

Great choices all around!

I would like to add that a nice collection of battles from 1813-1814 would be nice.  Eventually a nice scenario editor to make our own "what-if" battles would be even nicer.  (Sorry if that has already been discussed.)

No problem Monsieur le Tondu

Les Grognards is coming with 2 editors:
a) a map editor to create your own map,
b) a OoB editor to define your own OoB. (a data base with 900 historical units, and 3000 name of commanders)

So, a lot of "What if"...

JMM

PS : there will not the Map Editor in the LGAA2.0.. and only a light version of the DataBase.
