Okies, so I got my mail which contains a link to the file to download...
"The game is available for download at the following link:
path removed....
The key file attached to this email is your personal key and should not be shared. Place the key file in the main HistWar folder."
Clicking on the link brings up a "Windows cannot find" followed by the path (which starts with ftp://hwlesgrognards and appears to contain what looks like a username and password string) Check the spelling and try again..
Tried removing the caps etc but no dice... I can connect to ftp://histwargames.com which shows me the demo file and can even log on anonymously and download it... but the link I have in the mail simply doesn't work...
Anyone got any clues here? Am I missing something? I certainly don't seem to have an .rtf attachment file that is talked about elsewhere, I do however have an inline attachment with a string of numbers which I take to be the key....

Pak43, sounds like you got a different email than the rest of us.
The link that worked for me starts off http://www.histwargames.com and was followed by a folder and the name of the file. This started downloading automatically when pasted into FireFox.
Note that the user and password are lower case.
If you got an attachment named xxxxKey.hw, you're ahead of most. Copy this file into the HistWar main folder when you get the game installed.

I just saw what may be a copy of the new email. The link there starts off
ftp://hwlesgrognards...
See if you can get it to work by removing the http:// from the beginning. Although it's likely your link doesn't have http:... the forum keeps adding that to my post.

Like Hook said, did you try to remove http:// before the ftp:// ?
Other solution : copy / paste the entire URL from ftp:// ... to .exe into your browser
ftp:// .... .exe
In any case, make sure the URL starts with ftp:// and ends with a .exe when you paste it into your browser

So the url does start with ftp, not http. Having double checked I have typed only ftp: in this post and previewed it I can see the forum software sticks http:// in front of it automatically... so the below will probably have http:// in front of it

and this probably won't..

I've copied and pasted it from the email into the browser and no dice, I've opened Explorer and used it as an ftp client and no dice...
The link ends with an .exe file "HistWar-Release01-install.exe"
Obviously I'm reluctant to post the full path since it appears to contain a password and username (I think).
Being an ftp link it'll be case sensitive right? So I figure the link is probably correct but the case is wrong somewhere?

Have made several attempts to download file from link provided in email. Always get the message at some point, "Connection with server reset." Which of course stops the download. Any ideas??

Okay. An update. File finally downloaded overnight (took a little over four hours). Now when I try to install I get the following two errors:
1. Checksum mismatch. The installation is corrupt or has been tampered with. If you downloaded this file from the internet, try downloading it again.
and,
2. ASTRUM installer
Couldn't read TOC. Aborting.
Any assistance would be appreciated. I checked to insure the file was run as an administrator - no dice.

After clicking on to the file link to download the game, the site won't accept the password etc.
Is there a separate username and password for this download?

Yes.. it's right... BUT the link is split in two parts.. you have to copy the two parts into your browser.

The file size is 237 MB (248,585,135 bytes). The window related the download was complete; however, as it occured whilst I slept I do not know if anything unusual happened during the process. This last attempt was the fourth attempt at downloading (read about eight hours total effort). Not totally distraught yet, but on the verge.

My downloaded file is 339,416,418 bytes, a bit more on disk.
Delete your file and download again, and you should get the entire thing.

Well...one should never quit; however.... Reattempted, and download related it was complete at a whopping 39 megabytes. Same "Checksum mismatch. The installation is corrupt or has been tampered with. If you downloaded this file from the internet, try downloading it again." - message as before.
Is there a virus protection issue occuring here? Do French serveres not like American computers? We'll give the big statue in the bay back if it will help.

When I made my purchase I figured that the delivery would be smoothe and simple just like it is with other places you can DL games from. After reading many of the posts relating to DL and installation issues on these boards I honestly did not know you just about needed a computer engineering degree JUST to do it! Now here I am, sitting typing this wondering if I will even get the chance to play because I am not a guru, and the fact that I may be out of $52. This is extremely disappointing. And from what I can see this problem is not new. All I want is to do is intall and play the game. I am not asking for much. lol There are just too many conditions that need to be met, or things you need to do in order to get to that stage. Thanks for reading.

I just sent an email giving the informations for downloading the program.
After ordering, a first email gives a maximum delay of 24 hours to receive the code.
After reading many of the posts relating to DL and installation issues on these boards I honestly did not know you just about needed a computer engineering degree JUST to do it!
but the last one is very old... just a short one after the new version 02c.

As a matter of introduction, Dougie J below, is actually the "CinC" of NBC. Gunner 24 being the "Founder"
Dougie is a classic example of a dedicated MP player waiting for HLG MP to work correctly. When it did he bought it :D :D
Dougie's presence in the HLG Forum and his MP experience can only benefit us all.
The only problem I foresee is that he is Welsh :lol: :lol: :lol:

My problem was simply that the installation links provided were not compatible with my browser which is internet explorer, all resolved now and i have LG installed, i would think that internet explorer is probably pretty popular so i would hope any issues relating to it would be dealt with.

Okay, so I was able to download the file, but when I try to install it I get an error message: Checksum mismatch, installation corrupt or tampered with, etc. etc. I am sure you know what I am talking about. So whay do I do now to get this resolved please? Thanks.

That error usually means that for some reason the download didn't complete. I've had the problem occasionally when the file seems to get stuck on the last small part. Try downloading again, and watch the progress bar at the end of the download. If it takes a long time to get that last fraction of a percent, it may time out and think the download is complete when it's not.

Several gamers had download the game since the last version 2C, and I don't get any request about that.

Hi JMM I just switched my computer from my XP to the windows vista and I can no longer download the game from the email. I get the same problem as others when it says windows not avaiable after I type in Histwar and the password Histwar.
My order number is 322.
