JMM,

I think maybe it is the background picture.

In the French version, is the program for the pdf using one file to make the background on each page?

In the English version, it may be that the program is confused, and is saving a new background for all of the 100+ pages.
That would make the pdf much, much bigger.

I think I've found the size difference.  The French manual is in text while the English manual is all graphics.  You can select text sections to copy and past into a translator in the French version.  You cannot do this with the English version.

I hope the manual is done in A4 it is a sod to read in the current size. I have printed it off A4 double sided so it is very legible - well it would be apart from the difficulty in reading some of the screenshots such as the messages shot. It may be improved if I use colour for those pages ......

I really really hope that there can be an A4 manual though. And the coloured background to the pages is one of those annoying arty farty nods to supposed Napoleonic paper quality which does nothing to improve legibility. Readers 0 Manual Designer +1

Incidentally the printing out was because I am seeing some wargaming pals tomorrow night - I want to see them drool. Not because of their age you understand but for the game. However their age  would be a factor in reading squitty A3 sized manuals.

Keep up the good work JMM and team

For the final release, there will be 2 pdf files...
A4 without background for printing
12 * 18 for reading and the hard manual.. it's the reason why we choose this first size (and not A4)

BTW, some screenshots are in French, other ones aren't good.

Just a pre-release version.

I'm doing my best to promote same here in Copenhagen and back in Melbourne, Australia!

Also good to hear that you welcome a little copy editing, JMM.  I noticed a few typos last night *yawn* so I'll revisit them and jot the errors down.

Cheers and my greatest appreciation for your tremendous efforts.

The Book number 2 will explain the 3 Editors.

With Book 1 and Book 2 all of you can understand better all the little news collected during these years.

Enjoy reading the rules for, thanks those 2 manuals, you can have a wide explanation on how "The Engine" is going and all its potential.

(For example i lose often myself in creating Order of Battles)
