You'll enjoy it. A word to the wise, it is easy to get frustrated and feel the game doesn't behave as it should, I did. It does have some minor bugs and a patch is nearly ready. Search and use the forum for topics before posting so called bug reports, by this stage nearly every quirk has been posted at some time.
Here's my advice. Thoroughly, play and replay the tutorials, experiment without trying to obtain victories. Try and start off with small battles (Look in the Scenario forum for some homemade downloads of the smaller stuff). You've kinda got to get a feel for the A1, it's like learning to drive a stick shift "hard at first, needs a lot of practice but worth it in the end". Unlike the commercial combat stuff, HLG behaves pretty true to Napoleonic tactics, so when a unit won't do what you want, you're probably asking them to do something unrealistic. Watched the new NTW video yesterday, Infantry square instantly collapses under cavalry attack and British Infantry in 3 ranks fires muskets of all ranks simultaneously, NONE of that rubbish in HLG.
Good luck and happy fighting, it's the best game ever and will get better.
