Status that worked on the contrary (for spies)
« on: 17 October 2010, 19:22:16 PM »
If status worked on the contrary for other side (very limited and random) , could simulate the presence of spies or informers of the presence of the enemy. This would be interesting with deep FOW.
It may be added to the menu as spies,in addition to the standard status.
Bad idea?

Alfy, I have perfected the use of spies.  In my OOB, I create a Corp or two, with only 1 unit. During the deployment phase I assign the unit to a different Corp, this leaves me with 1 or 2 empty Corp Commanders. I have them roam the battlefield spying on the enemy 8) 8) 8) 8)

Oh my god, Mr ajlewisbrookes, this sounds a bit gamey and tricky.

I suppose we were all polite gentlemen battling at timed hours and place... gosh my XVIII century attitude is coming out again-

Should be able to capture them with "Loss of Corp Commanders" enabled. haven't seen it though. As for tricky, war is a dirty business.

Anyway, in my personal opinion this should be avoided in some way by the Engine.

By now i should hope that anyone who play multiplayer will conform himself to a fair game and so avoiding this trick that makes Corps commander as free scout cavalry.

I agree, it should be, but it's not, well not not anyway.

Having Corps Commanders that could be captured would solve the problem but that does not appear to work - or does it ?.

If both sides can do it, how has anyone got any advantage, if it's the same for everyone ?......I choose NOT to do this myself, but that is my choice, I could (if I wanted) do this as well.

The point is not the advantage, i agree that "if a rule is bad for everyone then is a good rule "... but in such a way to research historical amusement this way to use Corps Commander should be blamed (at least for me).

Monte, I only use this in our NBC campaign battles. As Gunner says he could use it too if he wanted.  I would NEVER use it if one of my opponents objected.
