nbc1 map pack - 8 maps.
« le: 27 février 2010, 21:47:47 pm »
The NBC map pack number 1
http://uploading.com/files/65cab6c4/nbc1mappack.rar/

This contains eight maps based on historical battle fields
Citer
Waterloo, Dresden, Leipzig, Dennewikz and belguim1815 were made by SMOKEHAMMER
Talavera, Marengo and Quatre Bras were made by Gunner24.

Please note there is no claim for these to be precise, exact, duplications, of these battlefields. They are intended for MP but can of course be used for SP as well.

All have a battle duration of 8 hours, starting at 9 a.m.

Installation instructions :
Unzip the nbc1mappack and each map, then move each one into the Histwar/maps folder.
Select from the map room to use.

Anyone is free to make any changes they wish to these map provided they “credit” the map maker with the original basic map - and of course change the map name.

As there may be many maps made by Community members with the same names, all the NBC maps will have the map name with “_nbc” followed by a number, at the end, like Marengo_nbc1. This should mean we can have any number of Marengo maps with slightly different names if other map makers do something like this - to avoid Marengo as the name. The first number after the map name is the map size in k : 6, 10, 15 or C for Campaign.

Note for unzipping file :
If you do not already have winrar, it can be found here
http://www.win-rar.com/

To unzip the folder left click on it and hit return, then do the same for each map.

I'll see if your Marengo map is as good as mine
Ha, I had a quick look at yours......and yours is perhaps better as you cover the area more correctly than I did.

Because I make maps for MP I did not want the river in as I'd be afraid of the Austrian player sitting behind it and therefore not getting a very interesting battle, so I went further east and south (screen wise) than your map.

This is a good example of why we can have several different versions of the same map - as long as they are named differently.

More people could make Marengo maps and they can all be a little different, but all playable - they are very easy to delete if you don't like them !.

Hi Gunner! Your work is superb! Yes, I had more...respect ... ;) for the topography and elevations (plains in Northern Italy are really FLAT, not gently ondulated like in France, England or the great part of Germany), the only "serious" elevations near Marengo are near Lobbi and expecially Pietra Marrazzi (North), but not really important for the battle itself. But I put in the map  the "damned" river: yes, correct, but it's the big problem for the playability! You did better, changing the Bormida in a stream: in solo mode your map will be more playable, because of the AI problems!
I really enjoy your work for Marengo map!!! Congratulations!!!
And I'll NEVER think to delete your very very good map! :!:

Wonderful work, thanks very much, this sort of collaborative effort is what makes LG great.
Rather odd to see the Austrian flag flying proudly above Mont St Jean but only to be expected. Bring on the Brits!
Has anyone seen my leg?

Excellent, thank you Gunner.  I am fighting a battle with the Waterloo map.  I love the topography of this battlefield, it presents a myriad of possibilities.

Thanks all, I would say that Smokehammer did a more professional job than myself with the terrain heights, I "guessed" from books....if I were clever enough I would use the software that has been chatted about on the forum.  My aim is always to produce something usable, it may not be 100% coreect, but it's normally usable for MP games - which is always my first priorty.

Good job. These are very nice to have, because the random maps aren't that usable.

Just fought two battles, one on the Waterloo map and one on the Quatre Bras, you have done a very good job, thanks!
