new Scenario:
« le: 09 mai 2010, 06:49:16 am »
Greetings grognards !

Arnofen-Biburg
I have posted a new scenario in our EXCELLENT DEPOT.
Its 50 CEH  1809 period. While Davout was busy with the Austrians
at Teugn-Hausen, the 1st Bavarian division was braking camp and
march to support Davout. This progress was halted by the approach
of Austrian troops out of the Seeholz Forest.

Map and elevations drawn in by hand over  HPS Campaign Eckmuhl scenario
map. The elevations  are close to Google Earth, however the design is traced
over, not a satellite map. Perhaps we can ask the Excellent War master
Theodoricus to let us have the satellite map overlay; I'd be glad to re-do all
the work again.
I plan to build a large  What If scenario on the same map and see if it works.

Hi zu Pferd,

I don't know if you are joking but I'm not an Excellent War master !   :?
There are persons on the HW forum who are more qualified than me on the napoleonic wars. I just try to do the best I can to create scenarios. It's my pleasure to search and learn battle after battle while doing this.
My opinion is that if you want to do an historical scenario, you have to search and read different informations sources for the battles development, Digby Smith or Nafziger for OoBs. And now that Brucepos has given us a good tool to create satellite elevations map, I think it's really a pleasure to utilize it for a precise map work. I know it's hard the first time you try.
For the moment I try to re-work my map of Elchingen battle with satellite elevations before uploading on the HW official archives. Afterwards, If you would like to, I'll take a look at your map but you have to send me some informations to locate your battlefield and the size you need.

Cordially,
 :D

To facilitate the calc is better use spreadsheet for conversion degree into decimal and to calc left, right, top, bottom for scilab to avoid errors .
It is useful for next maps.
Then i save all commands of Brucepos for scilab into file of notepad for made a script and copy and paste into editor of scilab.(i do not know but cannot save the script into scilab)
For other work is only necessary modify only data of left, right, top, bottom into notepad and the file of input.
There is very speedy and safe.

Yes indeed, it's a good idea. That's what I do : a calc file for easy calculations of degrees into decimals and notepad file for Brucepos' commands where you just have to change the numbers data for Left, Right, Top and Bottom and make a cut and paste line by line, (thanks a lot to Glaude1955 !).
I just added that  Scilab program works only for 10 or 15 km maps, not for 6 km.
