Titre: Units routing during multi-day battles for no obvious reason
Posté par: Cavalier le 10 octobre 2010, 03:28:54 am
I love the idea of being able to play multiple day battles so have tried a couple but have discovered a large number of units seem to march off the map at the end of the day to never return. I have even tried this with two sides that did not fight and over 1/3 of the units from both sides left the map at the start of the second day of the battle (I noticed all that did had a fatigue level over 70). This is unrealistic behavior IMHO and ruins battles that last over one day.

Is it possible to get the file xxx.sav for this battle.

I suspect the multi-day battle code isn't quite finished.  As far as I understand it, you should be getting units back, pretty much everyone who has left the field, and some portion of your wounded and missing.  This includes a lot of artillery.  The only troops permanently lost are those killed and captured.

Some wounded would be able to return to battle the next day, and a lot of missing will show up overnight.  Units might be at a lower strength, but they always returned to battle within a day or two.  If necessary, units would be reorganized, with very small units combined to form a normal sized unit.

I just ran another game for this and am still suffering the same problem. I was using a 15km size map with the battle starting at 0800 hours and a duration of 32 hours. I commanded both sides and other than one very small cavalry skirmish I made sure there was no fighting. Although I did move units around and change their orders.

Day 1 played fine but at the start of day 2 ALL of my infantry units from both sides were classified as "unit out of control" and leaving the battlefield. Many non-infantry units retreated from the battlefield as well.

I will send the saved file to JMM for analysis.

I emailed the saved game to JMM and he noted that it needs working on. I have confidence that he will fix it.

I worked with the Cavalier's file but I can't understand the problem.
Just I saw the ammunition were lost during the night, so the units must get out when resuming the battle on the morning.
Cambronne, could you send me your file...
I ask to beta test team to try to reproduce this issue (I also tried but without success)
