Grand merci également ... mais on espère qu'il n'y aura pas trop de patches tout de même pour la santé de JMM !!!

Thanks, the first thing I notice is the improved camera - this is much better now I can get back to my up/down/left/right arrows with the left hand for camera movements, a great improvement.
Also fixed my "bad" red screen map.
-
thanks a lot JMM and team, we appreciate your hard work!!!
-
Thanks very much, patch downloaded and working well. Must get back to my battle :D
-

Many things are going better. Although, I see a little drawback, we can nomore move separately the Commanders of Corps.
-
Thank you at all...
Thanks at the beta test team, the best of the world, working very hard to double check the adjustments.
All isn't right yet.. but we'll continue to improve Les Grognards
You find a bug... Could you add on redmine. It's more easy to follow the different requests.
On the forum, it's more complex.

The graphics in 3D are more realistic.

Thanks for the patch JMM :)

Les combats sont biens meilleurs maintenants, les carrés qui tirent, l'infanterie qui se met en position et qui tirent en rang, que du bonheur.
Il ne manque plus que les sons et l'immersion sera parfaite. ;)

You're the best JMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After I download the patch and try to run it, I get the Histwar error message saying that it "can't find my installation."
I have HW:LG installed, so why is this happening?
The error message tells me to reinstall the game first.
Is this really necessary? It's a long download.
-
You only have to download it once. Keep the install file.
If it's not finding the game, check to make sure you have the correct installation folder in the patch install program. Having the wrong path would certainly give the error you've encountered.
Hook
-
Hook,
Please explain more precisely what you mean, because I'm still getting the error.
I followed this sequence:
1. Clicked on the link to the patch,
2. clicked "save" in the download window,
3. Specified C:\Histwargames\Histwar as the destination for the patch download,
4. Once the download is complete (the file is 5,233 KB), I go to "My Computer," browse for C:\Histwargames\Histwar directory, and then double-click the patch installer file.
Then the error pops up that it can't find the installation.
What am I doing wrong?
-
When you double click on the patch installer, and click through the installation screens, it should eventually show one like the attached screen shot.
In my case, my game is installed to C:\Games\HistWar. This is the folder that contains LGDN.exe. This is the folder you want showing in that window, the one that has the LGDN.exe in it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks JMM!

Merci beaucoup à Jean-Michel et à tous ceux qui y ont travaillé !
Thanks a lot to you all !

Downloaded, patched and playing. Isn't it great!!!

Any update on when the "white screen freeze" at first start up will be fixed, I see it was on the list of known issues and I assume it must be hard to fix, or it would already have been done in this patch.....is it something that might be days, or weeks away ?.
-
From the Redmine tracker:
I don't work on this issue because it's possible to launch the different software without the main program.
That said..yes, it's not the best and I have to fix this issue up.

how can I tell the patch installed correctly, my version in right end corner still shows 0H10 shouldn't it be 0H1a ?
thks
-
Version H10 is correct. JMM is using a different version number than the name of the patch.
The previous version was G48, I think.
Hook
-
thks Hook,
by the way, I still get the original white screen freeze at start up (I understand JMM will fix it later), but once past/closed and started up again it works fine.
again, thank you
-
I avoid the white screens by launching directly from the LGDN.exe program icon. Also, you don't get white screens if you play windowed mode. Apparently something wrong with changing video modes. It also happens occasionally when you alt-tab out of the game when it's in full screen.

I get the white screen sometimes even if launching directly from LGDN.exe.

Tout semble opérationnel....... :D
Chouette !!!!! ;)

Also, JMM, many thanks, my soldiers are marching again! Away with the gliding!

JMM and team
Thanks for the hard work on this.... a sensible approach to get the basics/gameplay right asap and the tweaks can come later
An excellent game

JMM & Team:
Just echoing a "VERY BIG THANKS" for the "01A" patch - it did fix the "red screen of death" amongst other issues that were resident in the older version of the game.

Note: The link in the first post is to a new patch that includes a fix for the bad file in the Hanau map.
You need to download and install the new patch.
Hook
-
But if the good file for Hanau map is already downloaded, we need this new patch?
-
But if the good file for Hanau map is already downloaded, we need this new patch?
I don't know yet. Actually, if someone has already downloaded and installed, make sure the Hanau map works this time. If not, we'll need to do another patch. I won't know for another half hour as I'm forced to be on dialup at the moment.
Hook
-
But if the good file for Hanau map is already downloaded, we need this new patch?
No really... (that said, there are some errors about the weather and the season in the previous patch; this new one fix them)
JMM
-
Hold off on downloading for a bit... that link goes to the original patch file.
Hook
-
Ok, it's correct now. Make sure the file name that's downloading is Patch01a_1.

@Hook and JMM
Thanks, new patch downloaded

After Installing that last patch (HistWar-Patch01a_1-install)
I am getting a error Message when trying to open MapEdit or OoBEdit. The System can not find file specified.
This happens if I try to start from HitWar.exe or if I try to start either program directly with double click. Both edit programs are still in my (C:\HistWarGames\HistWar) folder.
FYI Vista 32
-
Curious...
Both LGdN .exe and doctrine.exe run...
Did you try to reinstall the patch again ?
This message isn't an in-game message.

I am getting a error Message when trying to open MapEdit or OoBEdit. The System can not find file specified.
Try starting one of those programs again, and then look in the Tracking/spyBoard.txt file near the bottom to see if it says anything about a missing file. If you aren't sure, post the spyBoard.txt file here and we'll have a look at it.

And the previous editors worked... :!:
I am sending a zip file with the 2 editors... You have to unzipp the files within the folder HistWar.
JMM
-
Yes everything worked before patch just giveing ya heads up,
-
What the two patches didn't solve is the fact that I can't start the game using the histwar icon. It starts only when I use the LGDN.exe icon on my desktop.
-
MILLE GRAZIE THANK YOU VERY MUCH JMM :!: :!: :!:

I had the same problem as reported in anomalie 892 on the new bug thread:
"After installing the patch i can`t use the OoB and Maps Editor anymore.
The message is: The Sytem can´t find the file."
The grognards program was patched and ran ok as did the doctrine editor but not the map or OoB editor after the patch.
I think this was because i had installed the full program into a different root file to the default. ('C:\HistWarFull\HistWar' rather than 'C:\HistWarGames\HistWar' ) I did this because I had also left Demo1 and Demo 2 installed on my computer as well as the full program (and demo 2 was in HistWargames folder). I directed the patch to install in C:\HistWarFull\Histwar and it patched the grognards but disabled the map and OoB editor.
I solved the problem by deleting the program ( after backing up my Map, Army, Scenari, OoB and Save folders so all the added games and user maps etc were not lost),and deleted the demos and then reinstalled the full program using the default folder and then ran the patch on this default folder and all was well again: all editors work and the full program is properly patched.

Also, JMM, many thanks, my soldiers are marching again! Away with the gliding!
I've installed both patches and still see units gliding. Any suggestions?
-
I have even more units glyding.
-
Can be an available memory problem. It arrives me from time to time. Extinguish the PC and open Histwar again.
For me it functions.

Version number for LGdN.exe is 0.H10
This number is in the file readme.txt.
You can see it in the first page of the game:
Otherwise, I have to adjust the parameters to avoid the gliding.
JMM
-
I'm a bit late to this, thanks for the patch.
-
I have even more units glyding.
I have uninstalled and re-installed with the latest patch. The problem now appears to be resolved. I will continue to monitor.
-
Art, how did you uninstall the patch, I don't want to uninstall the whole LGDN, It would take me hours to reinstall all the scenarios etc..
-
Art, how did you uninstall the patch, I don't want to uninstall the whole LGDN, It would take me hours to reinstall all the scenarios etc..
Unfortunately, I did, But I copied all directories beforehand. It made things easier.
-
Hi ajlewisbrooks, all you need to do is copy (Ctrl-C) the folders : Map, Army, OoB, Save, and Scenari then paste them into My documents (Ctrl-V) then delete the HistWar program folders, then reinstal using the default folder which the install program creates, then run the patch on it (again the default so you dont need to enter any folder names). Then to restore your files: copy and paste each of the saved folders into the HistWar folder, they will add their contents to the folders of the same names there. ( i.e. no need to copy each document in the folders by hand) . Apologies if you know all this but if not it will save you lots of time!
-
Thanks Nix, I will do it this morning.
-
I'm reporting the 'gliding' problem as well in the Campaign Map.
Tried all game presets...happens in everyone.
The partial white screen is forcing me to do the 'three finger salute' I'm changing my screen resolution
to the game standard resolution ( I was running higher with LDGN Demo)
:p
