Deploy order changes by AI

Is it my impression or when you give a Deploy order, the general is able to completely change the direction of advance?

I'm not sure about the deploy order, that seems ok to me, but the defend on line can be very different from that ordered, which normally happens around the woods, hills and plantations etc.

In fact I'm more worried with the Deploy order, since sometimes the general's decision will create big gaps on the line-of-battle.

could you please elaborate what the exact problem is? - I don't quite follow....

We may be talking about two different things here.

I'm talking about the line drawn on the map when giving orders being very different to the line the guys actually head for, like below.

E.g. Sometimes I order a corps to march NW and it goes SW.

Oh, strange, I've not seen that happen. 

Sometimes I do see a lot of "red" arrows all over the map when new orders are issued, they normally become correct as the timer clicks over.

ok...if you give an order to deploy to NW - then it is supposed to deploy NW....any save files or screenshots?

Not seen this for a while but I have seen this before.   I will have a look for some replays that show this.

Typically I end up with three corps in one sector instead of two
