Trouble again getting game up to date

Hi all,
 Just had to reformat my hard drive again and getting a lot of pain trying to get the game to update. I am using my original disc (version 1.0b) and then have downloaded the version 3.0a full and version 3.0b full. For starters the version 3.0b full is not the full version because in the read-me while installing it states you have to have version 3.0a or 3.0b for it to update (appears the text is the same as the upgrade  version). Tried to use it anyway and no joy. I then removed everything reinstalled the game and tried applying the 3.0a full patch. After it says it is finished  I run the game and down in the bottom right it still lists it as being 1.0b.exe. Am I missing something here. Can anyone help me get it working again I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.

same here. I had to reinstall again but now i have version max. 2.36 and can not have New GUI.
Full Patches 03b link http://www.histwar.org/mods/file.php?id=192 shows 8.26MB size.

To play with the new GUI, the display width must be over 1280...
If yes, G allows to toogle between the 2 GUI

Maximum Digital Resolution

how can i increase it for game ? i can max see 1280*1024 both windows and in game?

The max resolution in the game setup depends on your set desktop resolution, that you have to set in your display setup. That in turn depends on your monitor max allowed resolution and your graphics card.

alright thank you then it is 1280*1024 max. and i can not get the new GUI.

Have you launched HistWar.exe.
With this program, you can choose the display size...
Above 1280, LGdN can play with the new GUI...

i tried yes JMM, there it shows maximum 1280 to me, must be related to my monitor as Franciscus explained.
