Must an individual unit have a line of sight on another unit to attack it?
Sometimes units refuse to carry out an attack order and I wonder whether this could be the reason.

There are a lot of reasons to refuse a fight...
And I have to improve the feedback from the unit behaviour (probably 2d)

Hello JMM, this will be a huge help in making the game even more enjoyable.

More information in the unit panel will help us all to understand why things happen - or not !.

I have seen many times the message we get when a Regiment is attacking, and that message can remain they for a very long time when it is clear the unit is not actually attacking, for some reason ????....it would be great to see messages why it is not pushing forward to attack, rather than that same message that it is attacking, when it's not.

I agree, but maybe it should be optional. On a real battlefield you could not have this information. You would just wonder why the unit did not obey, swearing to take the commander to court martial...

Of course in the current status of the game, this would be very useful in order to tell bugs from normal behavior.

It might also be nice to have this info during a replay,, to see then, not during the action, why a unit did what it did,, as in real life

It would be a great help during replays.

I saw an instance where an enemy artillery battery was wide open to a flank attack, but it never happened, now there might be a good reason, but we will never know.....either during, or very soon after, a real battle, the CiC would demand to know why the Cav Commander never attacked as ordered.

Simple pic of the situation :
