User Map

This looks like a great feature. Problem is I'm a total noob when it comes to .bmp or jpg files. In my attempts I've been able to create a .bmp file but when I press f9 in the 2d map my user map only covers the top lefthand corner of the map.

Could someone please give us a walkthrough on how to do this properly?

How do I make a perfectly square picture? Are there any programs that modify pictures?
How do I know which map dimensions to use (6, 10, 15 sq km) with my .bmp file?
Is there a site that has downloadable maps of the Napoleonic wars?

Hi Malaspina,

                           please follow the '6km map' thread posted by Nix. He has 2 available 'user maps' to overlay
to help draw maps of the following size 6 and 10 km.

Don't have to answer to this if You have sorted out the problem already
