I get the message at the bottom part of the image if i try to open game from histwar icon on the desktop (i downloaded directx from a site though), if i try to open game from LGDN icon in histwar folder i get the message at the top part of the picture. I went researching that error code and it's pretty confusing. Some people get it all the time with certain games, others play for a while then suddenly start getting the error. Not a lot of it makes any sense.
The only thing I found interesting was that someone got the error only if the screen was set to 256 colors, which is unlikely in your case, and that shouldn't affect full screen mode anyway.
It's possible that the graphics card you have doesn't support one of the modes needed by the game.
It was interesting how many Sims 2 players had the problem, and I knew almost all of them, either directly from chatting with them at some point, or by reputation.
The normal fixes didn't seem to work for people: updating graphics drivers and downloading and installing the newest DirectX9c. Most of the other solutions were basically voodoo. There may be something corrupted in the registry, so if you have a registry cleaner give it a try. Other people suggested overheating graphics cards, since none of the usual solutions worked.
Maybe someone with more experience with graphics cards than I have could check yours out and see if it has the necessary specs. From your spyBoard file its a "Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller".
Good luck.

In the next patch, I'll modify the software to avoid this type of issue. That said, for these 'simple' graphic chips, the smoke will be a bit different.

Rustem, I had this problem on my second computer even with the Demo. Like Hook I did a lot of research and he's dead right it's damn confusing. It is called a "3D draw error" and is always related to the graphics card, it's drivers or DirectX. Before replacing the graphics card, update it's drivers from the manufacturers website, make sure you have DirectX 9.0 c minimum, if you don't updated DirectX is a free download from Microsoft.
If it still doesn't work, then it's a new graphics card for you I'm afraid. They aren't that expensive, $80 will get you a good Nvidia 8400 GS, but I don't know if they fit in a Laptop.

Just read a bit more of your error report, the Intel graphics card is the same as the one I had problems with.

"W" to take an in game screenshot: OUT OF VIDEOMEMORY ... 256mb
Oh well. I got that error with a 512 mb card one time... but I was constantly reloading PBEM games at the time without exiting the program, probably not something a normal player would do. Hook

Don't know if your in the USA Rustem but if you are get down to Walmart. They've got an emachines dual core processor, 3g of RAM and built in Nvidia card, all for $299. It will play the game well, not the best PC in the world but my spare has lasted 5 years. In the long run you'll save yourself a hell of a lot of money over trying to fix PC's that are on the way out, as PC's have become cheaper I think the PC repair business's are on the way out unless it's a custom machine.

Did you have an Nvidia card? Do a Google search on Nvidia and driver problems, and you'll find what I also discovered (too late) to my dismay: The latest driver, which they released in beta in early March, had a bug that makes the fan on the card behave erratically (it either shuts off or runs too fast), especially during 3D intensive uses (like gaming). It's led to many cards getting fried, including my 8800, and in some cases taking the motherboard down with them! They pulled that driver from circulation, and it seems that the older driver works fine.
