Object under the cursor .... EVERYWHERE! :P
« le: 26 février 2010, 12:41:52 pm »
I'm trying to create a map of Neumarkt - Hiller's victory over dull old Bessieres in 1809.  It's a series of NW-SE ridges on a 10km map.  I've got the LEVELS done and the BROOKS running down the valleys, but for every other terrain feature I get the 'OBJECT UNDER CURSOR' lightning bolt error everywhere(!), which is dreadfully boring.  No forests, no villages, hamlets, etc etc.

Is the editor unable to cope with very rolling ground?  Is there something else 'under the cursor' (moles?) that I'm not appreciating that I can remove?  Should I reduce the vertical scale?  I've checked the manual but no hints there.

..anyone?

I tried the simplist solution and started again.  It's worked this time. *shrug*  I can't say that I noticed that I've done anything different.  The biggest problem I've faced is that I can't really represent bavarian woods with the spare allowance in LG.  However, I'd rate performance over the weight of terrain almost anyday.

Hi HarryInk,

The best solution about representing woods is the one that Ras posted  :Battle of Teugn-Hausen.
I have encountered the 'Object under cursor' also, but simply press the escape key.
When you pick a 'brush' say a village, town and you place it on the map, if you don't press escape
to release it you are carrying that 'brush' around at the tip of your mouse pointer  ect....
Careful of the other error message when you try to place a town or a village to close to a ridge,
'slope too important' ...

Are you going to post the battle? I'd be interested to play it.
